Increase in Sukanya Samridhi Yojana interest rates by the central government

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the central government has increased the interest rates on the Sukanya Samridhi Yojana Yojana for the January-March quarter.

According to a circular of the Finance Ministry, interest rate will be applicable on deposits under Sukanya Samridhi Yojana from the current 8 percent to 8.2 percent. The three-year term deposit has been increased by 0.10 percent.

The interest rate of Sukanya Yojana was earlier 8 percent, which has now increased to 8.2 percent. Along with this, the interest rate on three-year time deposits was earlier 7 percent, which has now been reduced to 7.1 percent. This scheme is mainly operated by post offices.
