Forest Minister visits Polythene Bag manufacturing Factory: Punjab Forest and Wildlife Protection Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, important efforts are being made by the Forest and Wildlife Protection Department to make the state green and clean. He said that for this, saplings are being prepared on a large scale in the nurseries of the state.

He said that the first requirement for preparing saplings is bags to handle the saplings. Therefore, the polythene factory at Hoshiarpur has been made fully operational to meet the target of about 3 crore plants for the two years 2022-23 and 2023-24 for nurseries in the state and along with increasing its production capacity. – The standard of bags has also been increased. He was giving information during a visit to the bags factory under SFRI Ladowal, Ludhiana, Vanpal Research and Training Circle located at Bassi Jana, Hoshiarpur today.

The Cabinet Minister said that while upgrading the factory, where the old machines have been repaired, a new fully automatic machine has been installed. He said that under these efforts, now about 3.5 tons of bags are being produced here every week. Apart from this, the thickness of the bags has been increased from 30 microns to 76 microns, with which the plants can now be easily kept in these bags for two years in the nursery.

He said that to fulfill the objective of making the factory environment-friendly, 100 percent of the plastic waste generated is recycled and the polythene bags are prepared. He said that at present three shifts are being worked here keeping in mind the goal of the Forestry Department. On this occasion, he also inspected the Modern Nursery and Vermi Compost Unit located here.

On this occasion, Forestry Research and Training Circle SFRI Ladowal, Ludhiana Satnam Singh, Forestry North Circle Hoshiarpur Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Tiwari, DFO Amanit Singh, SDM. Hoshiarpur Preet Inder Singh Bains, d. F. S. C Sayogita, Forest Range Officer Jatinder Singh were also present.
