Patiala of Punjab On Monday evening, two youths died due to drowning in the big river. According to the eyewitnesses, these youths were followed by the vehicles of the de-addiction center. Five people jumped into the river to escape them and two lost their lives due to drowning. The police have started investigating the matter. The age of the deceased is said to be between 25 and 30 years.

Shankar Bhardwaj, President of Shankar Divers Club, said that around 5 pm, he received information that two youths have drowned in the big river. He immediately reached the spot with his team of cattle eaters. After about an hour of struggle, the bodies of the two youths were taken out. Bhushan, who was present at the spot, said that three vehicles were chasing five youths.

To escape from the people in the cars, these youths jumped into the big river. Two of them were pulled out of the canal by the passers-by, while one swam out, but the other two youths drowned as they got stuck in a deep swamp in the river. According to eyewitnesses, the said youth had run away from the de-addiction center. To catch them, the people of the center had driven the vehicles behind.

After the information, police station Kotwali reached the spot. Sadar police station in-charge Sukhwinder Singh said that efforts are being made to identify the deceased youth. Whether the youth has run away from the de-addiction center or not will be known only after the investigation.
