Two innocent children who went on service along with their families got swept away in the Beas river after the construction of a dam was completed in Baupur village of Mand area in Sultanpur Lodhi Sub-division of Kapurthala. They were immediately taken out and taken to the Civil Hospital. Where the duty doctor declared him dead.

After this accident, the parents of the children engaged in the service are in a bad condition. The deceased have been identified as Gurbir Singh Gora son of Satnam Singh and Samarpreet Singh son of Ram Singh, both residents of village Rampur Gora.

Gurbir was the only son of his parents. MLA Rana Inderpratap Singh came to express his grief with the family as soon as he got the information about this painful incident.

For 2 months, the embankment was broken, the car service was running
According to SHO SI Lakhwinder Singh of Sultanpur Lodhi police station and SHO SI Virinder Singh of Kabirpur police station, the water of Beas and Sutlej rivers comes under Kabirpur police station. Due to which the whole atmosphere turned into mourning.

Expressed displeasure towards the Punjab government
After this incident, farmer leader Paramjit Singh Baupur, sarpanch of village Baupur Gurmeet Singh and sarpanch of village Rampur Gor Jagdeep Singh reacted to the bad arrangements of the government and said that the Punjab government has proved to be a complete failure in these circumstances. Due to lack of attention from the government, they have to build dams to protect them from floods. Where two innocent people have died due to drowning. Punjab government is responsible for this. Expressing his protest against the government, he said that due to the bad arrangements of the Punjab government, the lights of two families have been extinguished.
