Chandigarh/Fatihgarh Sahib: Reiterating the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government to make Punjab a crime-free state, the Punjab Police has arrested two persons and solved the sensational case of attempted ‘human sacrifice’ of a middle-aged woman. . An attempt was made by the said accused to kill the victim woman as a part of witchcraft with the desire to become rich.

Ropar Range Inspector General of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the two arrested accused have been identified as Kuldeep Singh alias Kipa and Jasveer Singh alias Jassi, both residents of village Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib. Police have also recovered a Hero Deluxe motorcycle (PB 52B 2187) and machete used in the crime from the possession of the accused.

According to the information received, a 50-year-old woman Balveer Kaur of village Faror of Fatehgarh Sahib was found lying badly injured in the fields near the canal at village Ferozepur on Wednesday morning. The victim is now out of danger and is in PGI. I have treatment at Chandigarh.

Addressing the press, IGP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that both the accused were circus performers and used to go to different villages and perform bicycle shows. He said that the accused Keepa and Jassi had met Balveer Kaur through her son Dharampreet, who had befriended them during a show at village Faror about eight months ago.

Giving more information about the preliminary investigation, S.S.P. Fatehgarh Sahib Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal said that both the accused wanted to become rich and came in contact with a ‘Tantrik’, who instigated them to perform a ‘human sacrifice’ of a woman.

They said that the accused Keepa and Jassi called Balveer Kaur on Tuesday on the pretext of bowing down to a Tantric and took her to a deserted place in village Ferozepur to kill her, where they attacked the woman with a sickle. Due to which he got serious injuries on his neck and other body parts.

SSP Ravjot Kaur said that after the information received from the villagers, the police immediately started investigating the matter and arrested both the accused. It should be noted that FIR no. 38 On 09.04.2023, a case has been registered at Fatehgarh Sahib Police Station under Section 307 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
