Important decisions taken in the Punjab Cabinet meeting, farmers will get compensation of 15 thousand per acre

A cabinet meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Many important decisions have been taken in this meeting. Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora were also present in this meeting. Both of them informed about the decisions in the cabinet meeting. He said that compensation will be given for the loss caused to the farmers and laborers due to heavy rains in the state the previous day.

Minister Dhaliwal said that the stamp of the cabinet has been put on the compensation of 15 thousand rupees per acre by CM Mann. Farmers whose crops have suffered 33 to 75 percent damage will be given a compensation of Rs 6,800. Along with this, Girdavari will be conducted by the Patwari at the common place of the village. This will also include past and present damages. Those houses which have suffered minor damage due to heavy rain, will be given Rs 5200.

Giving information about this important decision, Minister Dhaliwal said that whoever manufactures fake medicines in Punjab today, strict legal action will be taken against him and he will be put in jail. If fake medicine is manufactured by any person or company, then the entry of that company in Punjab will be closed and sealed. Loans of Punjab Co-operative Banks have been waived only on half-yearly installments. The installment will be taken during the recovery of the next crop. He said that the compensation amount will not be given only on wheat, but financial assistance will be given according to the value of each crop.

Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that a one-month extension was given for the land registry in the past, which the people of Punjab took advantage of. The government had a target of 3950 crores. As of last March 30, more than 4100 crores of revenue, stamp duty has been collected. In view of this convenience and benefit of the people, the Punjab government has decided to extend this scheme by one more month. Now people will be able to register till April 30 only according to the current rate.

Minister Aman Arora said that agriculture is not possible without water. But the groundwater level of Punjab is going down by about 1.25 meters every year. He said that Punjab has the Canals and Drainage Act of 1857. Due to this, it takes about 240 days for the farmers to manage the canal water.

He said that now this old act has been amended. With the amendment in this act, water will be arranged in the farmer’s field in about one and a half months after applying for canal water. He said that canal water will be made easily available to the farmers from underground/tubewell water.
