Suji Appe Recipe: People who are fond of South Indian food must have tasted Appe. Like idli-dosa, there is a long list of people who like appe. Along with traditional appe, appe made of semolina is also eaten with great fervor. It can be eaten in the morning for breakfast or also as a snack during the day. The specialty of sooji appe dish is whether it is children or adults, everyone eats it with great enthusiasm. Vegetables are also used along with rava to make semolina appe, which makes this dish tasty as well as healthy.

Ingredients for Suji Appe
Semolina – 1/2 kg
Curd – 250 grams
Ginger paste – 1 tsp
Garlic paste – 1 tsp
Green chili chopped – 3-4
Onion – 1
Rye – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Whole cumin – 1 tsp
Capsicum – 1
Carrot – 2 (optional)
Tomato – 1
Sesame – 1 tsp
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Green coriander – 1 tbsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
salt – as per taste
How to make Suji Appe
To make Suji Appe, first clean the semolina and put it in a big bowl. Now add curd in the bowl and mix the curd with semolina well. Now add about 2 cups of water to this mixture and whisk it well and prepare a thick paste. Cover the prepared paste and keep it aside for 15 minutes. Now cut finely pieces of carrot, tomato, capsicum, green chillies.

Now put 2 tbsp oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame. When the oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and fry them till they crackle. After this add ginger paste and garlic paste to the pan and fry while stirring with a ladle. Then add finely chopped green chilies and add finely chopped onions. Now fry the onion till its color turns golden brown.
After this add finely chopped capsicum and chopped gadar to it and cook while stirring. After some time add chopped tomatoes and fry all the ingredients till they become soft. Increase the flame and cook the vegetables for 2 minutes. After the vegetables become soft, mix turmeric, garam masala and salt according to taste and cook for 1 more minute. Then turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down.

After the mixture of vegetables cools down, put them in semolina batter and mix well. Now add a little whole cumin, salt as per taste and chopped coriander and mix. Now take a pot to make appe and put some oil and mustard seeds in all its mines. After this, fill the batter of appe in all the mines and close the pot and cook them for 2-3 minutes. Then open the lid, turn the appe over and cook again from the other side for 2-3 minutes. Tasty sooji appe is ready. Serve them with chutney or sauce in breakfast.
