Hockey Fighter from Punjab President Kovind honored with Arjuna Award, see photos

Hockey players from Punjab will now be known by a new identity. President Ramnath Kovind today conferred several hockey warrior awards. While hockey captain Manpreet Singh has been awarded the ‘Major Dhyan Chand Award’, the rest of the players have also been awarded the Arjuna Award. They include Simranjit Singh, Mandeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, Hardik Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh and Dilpreet Singh.

President Ramnath Kovind honored the players and coaches who have excelled in sports with sports awards. In this program 12 players were given Khel Ratna, 35 Arjun, 10 Dronacharya and five Dhyan Chand awards. However, Khel Nagar Ratna award winning badminton player Krishna Nagar did not attend the function. He had returned home after the death of his mother. He had won a gold medal in the 2020 Paralympics.

Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won gold medals for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, silver medalist Ravi Dahiya, boxer Lovelina Borgohen, footballer Sunil Chhetri, cricketer Mithali Raj, hockey player P Sreejesh and shooter Javinashri. Antil, Badminton players Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar were selected for the country’s highest sports award, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna.
