Chandigarh: The period for installation of High Security Number Plates (HSRP) in Punjab ended yesterday and will be strictly enforced from today. A special campaign regarding high security number plate checking will be started across Punjab from today. The fine will be Rs 2,000 for the first time caught and if caught again, the fine will increase to Rs 3,000. If still not accepted then vehicle number will be blacklisted.

The government had given relaxation to the drivers till June 30 on the orders of the High Court. Now the government has clearly refused to extend the exemption period. Now there are direct orders to the transport department and the traffic police that if any vehicle is found without HSRP then its challan should be deducted.

The dead line has been extended for the second time

All vehicles must be fitted with high security number plates on court orders. But when people were challaned for not having HSRP number plates in the year 2021 during the Congress rule, the then transport minister Razia Sultana raised its deadline by raising an uproar. But after the start of Corona, the whole matter went into a cold state.

Now the current government had also given time till June 30 to install HSRP number plates in the vehicles in the month of March. But now the government is not in a mood to take it forward. From today there is strictness regarding high security number plates across the state. On the last day, there was a huge crowd of number plate installers.

If your vehicle does not have a high security number plate and you have applied then there is no need to panic. You can also show the number plate application slip if someone stops you. Even the challan can be avoided. By the way, the entire record of those who have installed high security number plates is also known online.
