Hero MotoCorp to Partner with US-based Zero Motorcycles for Premium Electric Bikes

Hero MotoCorp, one of the leading two-wheeler companies, has partnered with Zero Motorcycles of America to manufacture premium electric motorcycles. It will leverage Hero MotoCorp’s manufacturing and marketing strengths and Zero’s engine and electric motorcycle development expertise.

We plan to scale up electric mobility in the country and in our international markets ” Hero MotoCorp made its debut in the electric scooter segment last year with the VIDA V1 scooter.

Hero MotoCorp has also rolled out charging infrastructure in Delhi, Bengaluru and Jaipur. Sales of electric two-wheelers have increased in the last few years. However, Hero MotoCorp has delayed its entry into this segment, which has benefited startups like Ather Energy and Ola Electric. E-scooters and e-bikes account for about two per cent of the total two-wheeler sales in the country. It is planned to increase it to about 80 percent by 2030. The price of Vida Plus, the first scooter in this segment of Hero MotoCorp, is around Rs 1,45,000. Its minimum range in single charge will be 143 km. Its price is costlier than most of the electric scooters sold in the country. Hero MotoCorp plans to expand its Electric Vehicles (EV) range over the next 18-24 months. The company plans to launch electric two-wheelers in various price segments. company Head (Emerging Mobility Business Unit), Swadesh Srivastava told in an analyst call that the company has increased the pace of its plan for EV. Under this, new electric two-wheelers will be launched in various segments.
