Holi festival is considered to be one of the biggest festivals of the year. In other words, a cute excuse to enjoy with your near and dear ones. Because of the same chemical color and sensitive skin, many people often start avoiding playing Holi. Since childhood, I loved playing Holi very much. But being a sensitive skin, I used to get skin allergies very soon. The effect of the colors remained on the hands, feet and hair for several days. Due to which I used to stop coming out of the house for many days. Seeing my problem, my mother advised me to follow some skin care tips. Following these tips (skin and hair care on holi) benefited me so much that now I do not face any problem after playing Holi.

If you often have to face a similar problem, then these special tips told by my mother can be useful for you –

One day before Holi, massage the whole body with body oil. Image: shutterstock

1. Oil massage before Holi

One day before Holi, massage the whole body with body oil. You can also use almond oil, coconut oil or olive oil for this. It hydrates the skin, due to which the skin absorbs less color the next day. For hair, you can make a bun by applying oil to the roots, or you can leave half hair open by tying a cloth on half hair.

2. Two hours before playing Holi

It is very important to apply body lotion on the body just one hour before playing Holi. This will create a layer of moisture on the skin, which will protect the skin from chemical colors. You can also protect the areas around the eyes by applying Vaseline. Rub baby oil on the eyelids and nails. Also, wear full sleeve clothes to avoid direct contact with the colours.

3. Skin care after Holi

To remove the color, add rice flour to the body wash and clean the skin with a loofah. According to the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, ferulic acid is also found in rice flour along with essential elements. Which improves skin health by increasing the stability of vitamins A and E in the skin.

Apart from this, you can also clean the color by adding water to gram flour. But use only chemical free gentle face wash for face. With this, the color will come out quickly, as well as it will not harm your skin. The skin becomes dry due to excess color and sun exposure, so do not forget to apply nourishing body lotion and face moisturizer after bath. To deep clean the skin, do a home facial a day after Holi.

4. Hair care is also important

Take precautions in advance to protect hair from chemical colours. But if the hair has come in contact with the colour, then definitely use a clarifying shampoo for it. This will not affect the colors on the hair.

After shampoo, apply conditioner to the length of the hair. Use color protect conditioner for color treated hair. One day after Holi, make sure to use a hair mask to deep clean your hair.

5. Do not stay in wet clothes for a long time

Do not avoid this special tip even by mistake. Staying in wet clothes for a long time can cause skin rashes, because rashes emerge when the skin is wet for a long time. Along with this, the color starts getting easily on the skin with wet clothes. Due to which it can be difficult to remove the color later. Apart from this, nowadays colors are made with many chemicals. Which can prove harmful for the skin by entering your skin pores.
