Chandigarh: A yellow alert has been issued in Punjab for the next four days of heavy rain with lightning. The Chandigarh Meteorological Center has forecast heavy thundershowers in Majha and rain with thundershowers over Doaba, West and East Malwa on July 6. Along with this, the next day on July 7, heavy rain has been reported in the entire state.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected in Majha, Doaba and East Mawla on July 8, while light to moderate rain is expected in some parts of West Malwa. Thus heavy to very heavy rain has been reported at Majha on July 9. While heavy rain will occur over Doaba and West and East Malwa.
Yesterday’s highest temperature was recorded at 40.7 degrees Celsius at Faridkot. The lowest temperature was recorded at Pathankot today at 23 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, there will not be any major change in the maximum temperature of the state during the next 4-5 days and the weather will continue to be thundery at some places.
Warning in Haryana and Chandigarh
During July 06 to 09, there is a possibility of light to moderate heavy rain at almost all places in Punjab, Haryana including Chandigarh with heavy rain at some places.
A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of 8 July 2023.
