Punjab and Haryana High Court on Habeas Corpus: Punjab Police is looking for Amritpal Singh since Saturday. Police say that they chased Amritpal for a long distance but he managed to escape. Now Iman Singh Khara, the legal advisor of ‘Waris Punjab de’ organization has alleged that Amritpal has been arrested but the police is hiding it.

Iman Singh Khara, president of Waris Punjab de organization, has said that the police of Shahkot police station has arrested Amritpal. Now the Punjab-Haryana High Court has also issued a habeas corpus notice to the Punjab government. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government on the habeas corpus petition on Sunday.

The petitioner said that Amritpal has been detained illegally and the reason is not being told. Amritpal’s family is also not being informed, due to which his life is in danger. The petitioner appealed to the High Court to release Amritpal from illegal detention and issue a direction to the government to appoint a warrant officer. The petitioner said that he is ready to deposit the prescribed fee for appointment of Warrant Officer.

The hearing on this petition was held late Sunday evening at the residence of High Court Justice NS Shekhawat. In this, the court refused to appoint a warrant officer but has issued a notice to the government and sought its response by Tuesday.

‘Amritpal Singh may have fake encounter’

Petitioner Iman Singh Khara has alleged that Amritpal Singh, head of ‘Waris Punjab De’, has been illegally and forcibly detained by the Commissioner of Police and other officials without any legal authority. Iman Singh Khara has expressed apprehension that the police want to kill Amritpal Singh in a fake encounter. Iman has filed a petition in the High Court saying that Amritpal’s life is in danger.
