Martyred in an encounter with terrorists on September 13
It may be mentioned that on September 13, Colonel Manpreet Singh of New Chandigarh was martyred in an encounter with terrorists. The martyr was cremated with military honors at his native village Bhadaujian and bid farewell. Kabir, the 7-year-old son of the martyr, dressed in a soldier’s uniform, offered fire to his father’s pyre and said for the last time – Papa Jai Hind.
Governor of Punjab paid homage
It took 20 minutes to cover the distance of 200 meters from the Shaheed Colonel’s last journey home. Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit also came to pay homage to martyr Colonel Manpreet Singh. There was a huge crowd of people outside the martyr’s house in Bhadaujian to see his dead body. The villagers themselves cleaned the road through which the colonel was to reach the village on his final journey and showered flowers on it.
