Shocked, the doctor lodged a complaint with the police that he had been cyber-frauded. The doctor has told that from the restaurant from which he had ordered samosas, he had only asked for 1500 rupees, but I don’t know what went wrong, a total of 1.40 lakh rupees was deducted from his bank account several times. Now the police is investigating the matter.
It should be said that the 27-year-old doctor, who was a victim of fraud, works in KEM Hospital in Sion area of Mumbai. In the complaint filed in Boivala police station, he has stated that he was going to Karjat with his friends on Saturday. So he ordered 25 plates of samosas from Gurukripa restaurant. He was asked to pay Rs 1500 over the phone.
The doctor said that he paid 1500 rupees but got a call from the restaurant that he did not get the money. A link is then sent to the doctor to make the payment. As soon as he paid through this link, Rs 28,000 was deducted from his account. Seeing this, the doctor’s senses flew away. By the time he could do anything, three-four messages related to his account came and money started being deducted from his account.
He immediately called the bank and got his bank account blocked, but by then a total of Rs 1.40 lakh had been deducted from his account. Police are investigating whether the link for payment was sent from the restaurant’s side and the cybercriminals intercepted it midway and duped the doctor.
