Government school student died due to cold in Amritsar

A government school student died of cold in Amritsar. The student had fever due to cold. The deceased student, Pradeep Singh, was studying in the fourth standard at the government elementary school in Variana village of Ajnala. This is the first case of death of a child due to cold in Punjab.

According to the information received, about 7-year-old Pradeep Kumar of Ajnala developed fever on December 31, after which he was referred to Amritsar from Ajnala Hospital. In Amritsar, the doctor said that the child's brain is swollen due to fever. After wandering in different hospitals for three days, the family brought the child back home. Meanwhile, the child died. The deceased Pradeep was the only brother of two sisters.

The fury of cold continues in Amritsar. The sun has not risen since December 22. The temperature is also 7 degrees below normal. The temperature in Amritsar was 5.8 degrees this morning and the temperature has been hovering between 5 and 9 degrees for the past one week.

On the other hand, yesterday Education Minister Harjot Bains clarified that there will be no more vacations in schools despite winter. The Education Minister said that he is also feeling that it is very cold, but according to the academic calendar, holidays cannot be done now.

He said that students have to go to school for 230 days every year, but due to floods, there have already been many holidays this session, due to which it is not possible to take holidays at present. Bains said that the assembly elections are to be held this year, due to which the board exams are also starting in February. So students have very little time to come to schools and do revision.
