Government crack down on immigration agents, orders action against 271

Chandigarh: The Punjab government will take strict action against travel agents, organizations and agencies operating illegally in the state. Giving this information, NRI of Punjab. Affairs and Administrative Reforms Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal is checking licenses and other required approvals in all the districts.

After the fraud of 750 students in Canada, the government has cracked down on illegal immigration companies, travel agent organizations and IELTS coaching centers in Punjab. In the investigation, 271 organizations have been found illegal, out of which FIR has been lodged against 25.
He said that this checking campaign will be completed by September 10, in any case the institutions, agencies that are ready to work properly under the law and prescribed conditions will be given an opportunity to fulfill the prescribed conditions.

Some time ago, about 750 students who had gone to study in Canada got into trouble after they found out that they were cheated by travel agents in India. Taking a lesson from this, the state government has ordered a checking campaign against travel agents and immigration companies. The command of this work was entrusted to the SSP at the district level. Meanwhile, documents of organizations and companies were examined.

So far information of 7179 travel agents, agencies, offices has been collected. During this checking, 271 establishments were found to be illegal. Out of a total of 609 complaints received during the meeting of NRIs, 588 have been disposed of and the remaining 21 cases are under process. On this occasion, many officials including Principal Secretary of NRI Affairs Department Dilip Kumar were present.
