The Punjab government has started a new scheme called Chief Minister Pilgrimage in the state. After the cabinet meeting on Monday, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that under this scheme, senior citizens of Punjab will travel to various religious places of the country for free. This scheme will be implemented from the coming Gurupurva. Along with this, the amount given to widows of martyrs and soldiers who become disabled while serving in the paramilitary force has been increased.
Pilgrimage will be arranged through trains and buses
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that in the near future, the Punjab government will allow senior citizens to visit religious places through trains and buses. This scheme will be launched in the coming Gurupurva. Senior citizens will be given free travel to various religious places including Nanded Sahib, Varanasi, Mata Naina Devi, Jawalaji, Salasar Dham.
The pension of martyrs’ widows was doubled
Apart from this, earlier in Punjab, a pension of Rs 10,000 was given to the widows of the martyrs. Now it has been reduced to 20 thousand rupees. Along with this, the amount of assistance given to soldiers in case of injury in paramilitary forces has also been increased. Earlier, 76 to 100 percent disabled people used to get Rs 4 lakh. Earlier it was Rs 20 lakh and now it has been increased to Rs 40 lakh. The amount of assistance has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh for persons with disabilities between 51% and 75% and from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for persons with disabilities between 25% and 50%.
