The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said that his country wants to simplify the rules for Indian information technology experts who wish to obtain work visas in Germany.
Chancellor Scholz made such a remark during a two-day visit to India, which took place over the weekend, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
While visiting Silicon Valley of India in Bengaluru, Chancellor Scholz said that Germany intends to modernise the entire visa issuing process in addition to legal modernisation and, at the same time, stressed that his country needs many skilled workers to meet the demand for software development.
“It is very impressive to see that many thousands of committed young women and men work here and have skills. We want and have to use the potential that exists here. This also helps us to strengthen the resilience of our own economy,” Chancellor Scholz stated.
Scholz explained that the new plan aims to make it easier for all skilled workers needed in Germany to move to the country and bring their families with them.
The same stressed that in line with the new rules that Germany plans to introduce for skilled workers, it would initially be possible for people to arrive in Germany without having accepted a job offer beforehand.
Regarding the German language requirements, Scholz said that by relaxing the rules, Germany would become a more attractive destination for IT workers. According to Scholz, IT workers from India arriving in the country can learn the language later, suggesting that knowledge of German is not mandatory.
“It is clear that anyone who comes to Germany as an IT specialist can first easily converse with all his or her colleagues in English because many in Germany can speak English,” the statement of Scholz reads.
Additionally, Scholz emphasised that the country has already collected several proposals regarding the reforms that need to be made in this field and said that the relevant authorities are continuing to work on them.
Germany wants to ease the visa and immigration rules for skilled workers from other countries too. Previously, SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that Germany plans to make changes to its Skilled Workers Act in a bid to attract more qualified workers and tackle labour shortages.
The first change that Germany intends to make is to extend the accessibility of Germany’s Blue Card for more specialists who hold a university degree.
Germany also wants to permit nationals of third countries to move for work purposes in Germany without having to undergo degree and professional qualification formal recognition procedures.
In addition to the above-mentioned, Germany wants to allow foreign workers to arrive in the county even if they have yet to receive or accept a job offer and permit German employers to hire foreigners for short-term periods, regardless of special qualification requirements.
