DC Kullu Ashutosh Garg said that water has overflowed due to gate blocking of Malana Hydro Power Stage-II Dam. He said that he has spoken to the company management. He says that he is not able to operate it due to the gate being closed.
The water of the Malana river will come into the Bhuntar and meet the Beas. In such a situation, if the dam breaks, the water level of Beas river will also increase. However the water volume in the dam is 30 cusecs. In such a case, there is nothing to worry about.
The Power Project Authority has been instructed to operate the gate soon, so that there is no loss of life or property.
Malana Dam-2 is built on a high hill
Malana-2 dam side is built in high hill. Due to this, people have many houses and lands on the Malana drain. The people of Malana have hundreds of bighas of fertile land on the banks of the gorge near the village Chowki. There are hundreds of residential areas along the Beas River from Jhari to Bhuntar Bajoura and Pandoh Dam. An alert has been issued in such a case.
