Financial help of 6000 rupees to women in Punjab on the birth of a second girl child

Punjab News: Continuous efforts are being made by the Punjab government to raise the standard of living of women. The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is running various schemes for the empowerment, safety and well-being of women in the state.

Social Security and Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, eligible beneficiary women (breastfeeding mothers) will be given one-time financial assistance of Rs.6000/- after the birth of their second child. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs.5000/- is given to pregnant women and lactating mothers for the birth of their first child.

He said that providing financial assistance of Rs.6000/- after the birth of a girl child will improve the declining sex ratio at the time of birth of a girl child, will also help in stopping the practice of pre-birth sex selection. Lactating mothers. Health will improve and help improve the nutritional well-being of the child.

The Cabinet Minister said that under this scheme the benefit of Rs.6000/- will be directly transferred to the bank/post office accounts of the beneficiaries. Forms are filled on behalf of Anganwadi workers in all Anganwadi Centers of Punjab to avail this benefit. To avail this benefit every beneficiary must have an Aadhaar card and link the Aadhaar card with the bank account.

The minister added that beneficiaries can register themselves at home on the online portal (https://pmmvy.nic.in/) and submit their applications. Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur ordered the officials to implement this scheme in a transparent and smooth manner.
