He said that three tigers would be released on March 10 in MNP (enclosures), where the roar of a tiger has not been heard for 27 years. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Forest Minister Vijay Shah along with a tiger and two tigresses captured from the premises of an institute in Bhopal to revive the tiger population in MNP will be released into the enclosure.

He said that earlier tigers have been successfully resettled in Panna Tiger Reserve and Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary in Sagar. According to forest officials, there is good prey available for tigers in MNP. That’s why the program to resettle the tigers here has been approved by the Center. He said that radio collars will be installed in these tigers.

Principal Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Subharanjan Sen said that once upon a time there used to be many tigers in MNP, but since 2010 no tiger has been seen in MNP and its surrounding area. Wildlife experts said that the tigers in the MNP were lost mainly due to hunting. As per reports, for some time in 2010-2012, tigers from Rajasthan roamed around the MNP.
