New information related to Aadhaar card has come out. Aadhaar card will no longer be proof of your date of birth. Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has issued a notification in this regard. Let us tell you that following the directions of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), EPFO โ€‹โ€‹has decided to remove Aadhaar card as an acceptable document for date of birth.

This decision will affect EPFO โ€‹โ€‹customers and they will no longer be able to use Aadhaar as evidence to prove or correct their date of birth in their EPF account. Let us tell you that EPFO โ€‹โ€‹has around 7 crore subscribers. These are people who are employed and their employer is affiliated with EPFO.

UIDAI found that Aadhaar is being treated as proof of date of birth by many beneficiaries. As per Aadhaar Act, 2016 it was not recognized as proof of date of birth. UIDAI emphasized that Aadhaar is for identity verification, not proof of birth.

EPFO removed Aadhaar from the list of acceptable documents for correction of date of birth after UIDAI's directive. This decision has been taken with the approval of the Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC).

Documents accepted as proof of date of birth for EPFO โ€‹โ€‹include birth certificate, mark sheet issued by a recognized government board or university. Also School Leaving Certificate (SLC)/School Transfer Certificate (TC)/SSC Certificate including name and date of birth are also valid documents for EPFO. PAN Card, Central/State Pension Payment Order i.e. PPO, Domicile Certificate issued by Govt are also valid as birth certificate.
