Employees will not be able to strike, Punjab government implements ESMA

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Punjab has imposed ESMA late on Wednesday night on the employees who announced the strike. These employees had announced to go on strike from September 1. CM Bhagwant Mann had also warned them in a program in Amritsar during the day.

After which these orders were issued under sub-section 1 of section 4 of the East Punjab Essential Services Maintenance Act 1947 referring to floods at night. According to this order, no employee can go on strike. These orders will remain in force till October 31.

The orders said that water is being continuously released from Ranjit Sagar Dam, Bhakra Dam and Pong Dam in Punjab. The flood situation in the state remains intact. In such a situation, Patwaris, Kanungo and DC office employees working in the revenue department are on duty 24 hours a day.

According to the government, the employees of these departments are needed all the time in case of floods. Therefore, the Patwaris, Kanungo and staff posted in the offices of the Deputy Commissioner working in the Revenue Department will be prohibited from leaving their stations. They shall be present in their office at all times and shall be present on duty as and when required.
