ED has arrested former minister of Punjab Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in money laundering case. This alleged scam came to light during his tenure as Forest Minister. The investigation started by Punjab Vigilance has now reached the financial probe by ED.
Earlier, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was arrested twice by Punjab Vigilance. Initially, he was detained in connection with the forest scam and wanted to spend time in jail. After this, he had to face another arrest in a case related to disproportionate assets.
Let it be known that the vigilance investigation revealed that the income of the former minister and his family was Rs 2.37 crore during the investigation period from March 1, 2016 to March 31, 2022. While the expenditure was Rs 8.76 crore. This expenditure was Rs 6.39 crore more than the income.
In November 2023, EID raided the houses of Sangat Singh Giljian, some contractors of the Forest Department and their relatives, apart from Dharamsot. The ED may take action against Harmohinder Singh, a close associate of Dharamsot and a contractor of the forest department, a close associate and some officers based in Khanna.
