E-vehicle service in Ludhiana and Jalandhar: Taking a big step towards starting eco-friendly public transport in Punjab, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given approval to start e-vehicle service from Ludhiana and Jalandhar and e-auto service from Amritsar as a pilot project.

Presiding over a meeting to review various development projects in 47 cities of the state, the Chief Minister said that apart from providing better public transport facilities to the people, these facilities will also play an important role in protecting the environment.

He said that e-vehicle service will be started in Ludhiana and Jalandhar and e-auto service in Amritsar as a pilot project. Bhagwant Mann expressed the hope that these modes of public transport will also be of great help in solving the traffic problem in these cities.

The Chief Minister further said that the state government will soon start a pilot project in Bathinda and Patiala districts with the aim of solving the problem of stray cattle. He said that this will bring great relief to the people as it will help in saving their precious lives. Bhagwant Mann said that there is a big threat to people’s lives due to fatal road accidents caused by stray animals.

CM Bhagwant Mann further said that the state government has for the first time implemented a project to assess the need for work through ‘artificial intelligence’ to find out the need to carry out any development work. He said that it has been started in Amritsar as a pilot project. Bhagwant Mann said that this model will also be implemented in other districts to ensure development works on the basis of need in the state.

He also reviewed the proposed projects worth more than Rs 1000 crore to be implemented in various cities and said that this would give a big boost to the development of these cities. He said that 100 percent water supply will be ensured through canals in these 47 cities under the Rs 762.45 crore project. Bhagwant Mann said that the work on this major project is likely to start by August this year.
