Speaking on this occasion, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann is taking multifaceted efforts to ensure the safety of children, women and the elderly in the state.

He said that the Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development, Punjab is running Child Protection Scheme for the safety and welfare of children, the main objective of which is proper care, protection, development, treatment of needy children from 0 to 18 years. and rehabilitation in society. He said that under the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of Children Act 2015, 07 government children’s homes are being run in the state by the Punjab government.

These orphanages are established in Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur. These children’s homes have provision for keeping orphans, destitute and surrendered children. 238 children are living in these orphanages.

He said that since there is no government or non-government children’s home in district Tarn Taran, a children’s home for boys with a capacity of 50 is being constructed by the government. He said that for the construction of the building and other necessary facilities for the living of the needy and destitute children in this orphanage, it will cost approximately 05 crore rupees. In this orphanage, the necessary facilities for living, food, education, health facilities and all-round development of the children will be provided free of charge so that no needy child is deprived of protection.

Speaking on this occasion, Cabinet Minister Punjab Laljit Singh Bhullar said that the orphanage for the safe care of orphans and helpless children, victims of social injustices, has been a demand of our area for a long time. He said that with the construction of this orphanage, the orphans and destitute children of the area will get free accommodation, food and education so that they can feel safe in the society.

He said that the two-storied building of this children’s home will soon be handed over to the people of the area so that orphans and helpless children can live here and earn their living. He said that all the expenses of the children till the age of 18 years will be borne by the government and after 18 years the children will be able to become independent and rehabilitate themselves in the society.

After this, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur and Laljit Singh Bhullar also heard the problems of the Anganwadi workers and assured that the government will solve their problems as soon as possible. During the brief event organized on this occasion, nutrition kits and baby suits were also distributed to the mothers and new born children. distributed
