Doctors’ ‘pay scale’ to strengthen health services

Nawanshahr News: Health and Family Welfare Minister of Punjab Dr. Balbir Singh said at Nawanshahr on Sunday that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will soon redefine the ‘pay scale’ of doctors to strengthen government health services.

He said that 550 new doctors will come by next month, whose salary has been increased from 30 thousand to 70 thousand. Apart from this, due to the implementation of the 7th pay scale by the previous government, the salary of doctors in Punjab has decreased from Rs 1.41 lakh to Rs 1.18 lakh, doctors who left their jobs and went to neighboring states have also been contacted and asked them to ‘pay scale’. ‘ Redefined full salary will be given here only.

He said that Punjab is in dire need of doctors and the government is working to meet the shortage of medical specialists, radiodiagnostics, gynecologists and other specialists at its own level. He said that structural requirements and other staff including staff nurses, paramedics, grade four, ward attendants are being recruited in government health institutions.

According to the health minister, ‘rate contracts’ have been fixed for 95 percent of the medicines supplied in government hospitals and the remaining 5 percent ‘rate contracts’ will also be completed soon. He said that in the near future the emergency medical services of the government hospitals will be even better and all necessary tests, medical experts and medicines will be available here.

He said that the 580 Aam Aadmi Clinics opened in the state have given great relief to the common people in health care, which has reduced the congestion of VOPD patients in big hospitals. He directed the Director Health and Family Welfare to provide special training to Community Health Officers and Asha workers to protect the common people from diseases like diabetes and BP by giving yoga, walking and other activities to the common people especially the pregnant women coming to the high risk zone.
