The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered suspension of the airline’s head of training for three months and also imposed a fine of Rs three lakh each on eight designated examiners (DEs), according to a statement. Over the past few days, the DGCA has come down hard against flouting of rules by airlines and has taken action against several including Air India and GoFirst.
DGCA took action for the third time in a month
Let us tell you that in a news released on January 23, it was said that AirAsia India has allegedly violated the standards related to pilot proficiency test and instrument rating tests, so DGCA can take action against it. This is the third time in a month that DGCA has taken action against any Tata group airline. AirAsia India said in a statement that it is reviewing the DGCA order and considering an appeal against it. An AirAsia India spokesperson said, “We believe that the DGCA had found some deficiencies in pilot training during the inspection of our main base in November, 2022.”

Immediate disciplinary action was taken in coordination with DGCA and additional training sessions were also conducted for the pilots. Following the inspection on November 23-25 last year, the DGCA had sent show-cause notices to the airline, its chief instructor and all designated examiners. DGCA had found in the inspection that some mandatory procedures were not being done during the training, due to which DGCA rules were being violated.
Issued a notice and sought answers
According to a senior official, during the inspection, the DGCA found that pilots of Air Asia (India) Limited had not done some mandatory drills during pilot proficiency check and instrument rating check (which is an International Civil Aviation Organization requirement), which There is a violation of DGCA rules. Subsequently, the DGCA issued show cause notices to the Accountable Manager, Head of Training and all the designated examiners of M/s Air Asia (India) Limited and sought their response. The written replies of the Accountable Manager, Head of Training and all the designated examiners were examined, the official said. Accordingly, action has been taken.
