New DelhiDelhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sent the names of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj to the Lieutenant Governor for cabinet appointments. Sources claimed this on Wednesday.
This step has been taken after the resignation of Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain. Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last Sunday in connection with alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy. Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in May last year in a money laundering case.

In a significant development amid a sustained attack by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over corruption charges against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, Delhi’s arrested ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain on Tuesday joined the Arvind Kejriwal-led resigned from the cabinet.
The Supreme Court yesterday refused to entertain Sisodia’s bail plea, saying it would set a “wrong precedent” and effective alternative remedies were available to him.
Shortly after the court’s arrangement, Sisodia and Jain resigned as ministers. Sisodia is in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a case related to the now-defunct excise policy. Till the new ministers are appointed, Sisodia’s portfolios have been given to Kailash Gehlot and Anand.
