New DelhiNearly two weeks after the arrest of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, a Delhi court is likely to hear his bail application on Friday. He has been arrested on charges of irregularity in implementing the liquor policy.

Special Judge MK Nagpal had directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file its reply to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader’s application by March 10. The judge sent him to judicial custody on March 6.

In his application, Sisodia said he joined the probe whenever the central probe agency called him. He also said that no useful purpose would be served by keeping him in custody and that ‘seizures’ have already been made in the matter.

He said that other accused arrested in the case have got bail. The CBI had arrested Sisodia on February 26 in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. This policy has now been cancelled. (agency)
