It is very cold in many states of India right now. With increasing cold, the cases of Covid are also increasing. Corona cases are increasing every day in the country. 743 new cases of Covid have been registered in the last 24 hours. Cases of new variants of Covid JN.1 are also increasing. This variant has spread to many states of the country. States are on alert in view of the growing threat. States have ramped up Covid testing, surveillance and genome sequencing. Among the cases that are currently being reported, most patients have mild symptoms, although the death toll is rising. Most of the patients who died had some sort of pre-existing serious illness.

Experts say that the JN.1 variant is infectious, so the cases of this variant are increasing rapidly, but this variant is neither dangerous nor fatal. According to the Ministry of Health, 162 cases of the JN.1 variant have been reported in India. Of these, the highest number of cases (83) are from Kerala. Apart from Kerala, the JN.1 variant has spread to many states including Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka. So far, people infected with this variant have shown only mild symptoms.

Matters may escalate

Epidemiologist Dr Ajay Kumar says that there may be an increase in new cases of Covid for a few days in the coming days, but there is no need to panic. Even if the cases increase, there is no serious danger. This is because Covid is not causing severe symptoms. Although cases of the new form are increasing, it is not fatal.

The JN.1 variant is a sub-variant of Omicron and has almost identical symptoms. So, there is no need to worry, although caution is still required. The elderly, patients with chronic diseases and pregnant women are advised to take care of their health. Avoid going out in this weather and wear a mask if you are going out.
