Punjab Flood: Punjab NRI Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal reviewed the arrangements and preparations made by the district administration Gurdaspur for flood protection at the Panchayat Bhawan of district Gurdaspur. He has directed the authorities to complete the flood control arrangements in time so as to prevent the terrible tragedy of possible floods due to rains in the coming days.

Dhaliwal said that giving instructions to all officials and employees to go to ground zero and work for flood prevention arrangements, he said that drains department, public works department, mandi board, panchayat department and police department should form joint action teams to work. He said that these teams will ensure in their respective areas that all the bridges and culverts of the same drains are clean and no drain remains blocked.

He said that those drains which could not be cleaned yet, should also be cleaned immediately. Along with this, Public Works Department and Mandi Board officials passing through the district GT. Also asked to prepare a report regarding the arrangements to be made for drainage of water from the road and other connecting roads.

The Cabinet Minister directed the Health Department to make advance arrangements for medical teams and medicines etc. to avoid any possible disaster like flood. He said that adequate number of boats, food packs, drinking water etc. should be arranged by the district administration.

Dhaliwal said that special efforts should also be made to protect the low-lying areas of the cities from rainwater flooding. He said that the sewage system of the cities should be cleaned and it should be ensured that the canals passing through the cities are completely clean so that their water does not cause flooding in the cities.

Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal told the officials that the district administration should demand whatever help it needs from the government for flood prevention arrangements so that it can be completed without wasting time. He said that the Chief Minister While the Punjab government under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann is fully capable and ready to deal with the floods, the compensation of the people who have suffered due to the flood will also be done by the government. He also appealed to the residents of the state to strictly follow the instructions issued by the government and administration.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that the district administration is ready to deal with any possible threat of floods. He said that different teams have been formed by the district administration. He said that the district administration is taking full vigilance regarding the floods and advance information about the release of water in the rivers is being conveyed to the district residents. He said that the district administration has established a special flood control room at Gurdaspur which is working day and night.

Gurdaspur Harish Dayma, SSP Batala Ashwani Gotyal, Chairman Punjab Health Systems Corporation Raman Bahl, Chairman Pansap Balbir Singh Pannu, Chairman Nagar Improvement Trust Gurdaspur Rajeev Sharman, Chairman Nagar Improvement Trust Batala Naresh Goyal and other senior officials related to the district were present.
