Compensation to farmers will start from Baisakhi

Compensation for Damage Crop: Crops were damaged due to unseasonal rains in the country as well as in Punjab. Meanwhile, to take stock of the damaged crops, state Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal visited the villages of Haruwal, Agwan, Mansoor and Ghanie-K-Bet in the Assembly Constituency Dera Baba Nanak on Sunday.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Dr. Himanshu Agarwal, SDM Dera Baba Nanak Shayri Bhandari, Tehsildar Dera Baba Nanak Jagtar Singh, prominent public leader Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, Chief Agriculture Officer Kripal Singh Dhillon, BDPO Dera Baba Nanak Kirandeep Kaur and other officials were also present.

Speaking to the farmers after inspecting the damaged crops during the visit to the border villages, Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the Punjab government stands with the farmers in this hour of crisis. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has given instructions to the officials that the girdavari of the damaged crops should be completed as soon as possible so that compensation for the damaged crops can be started to the farmers on the occasion of Baisakhi.

Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the Punjab government has increased the amount of compensation for crop damage by 25 percent and other crops other than wheat which have been damaged due to rain will also be compensated.

Cabinet Minister Dhaliwal said that the Girdavari work is going on in full swing across the state and the officials are going to every farmer’s field and preparing the actual report of crop damage. He said that the Punjab government has issued a WhatsApp number 93093-88088 to help farmers and if any farmer has any complaint regarding Girdavari, they can send their complaint on this number.

Kuldeep Dhaliwal instructed the officials that the Girdavari work should be completed in a timely and transparent manner. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Dhaliwal also listened to the farmers’ grievances.

On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal said that the special Girdavari work is going on in full speed in the district and 70 percent of the work has been completed and the remaining Girdavari will also be completed soon and the report will be sent to the state government. He said that if a farmer faces any problem, they can contact him.
