CM Mann letter to Giriraj Singh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has demanded to increase the daily wage (Dihari) given under MNREGA scheme. In this regard, he has written a letter to the Union Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Giriraj Singh. In his letter, he has demanded to increase the amount of daily wages to 381 rupees.

Earlier, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a meeting with the officials of Rural Development and Panchayat Department about 21 days ago. During this, many important issues related to MNREGA scheme were discussed.

Regarding the increase in MNREGA budget, Mann had a special conversation with officials including Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar. They discussed how MNREGA workers should be employed in the development of infrastructure and especially in the construction of sports stadiums.

Importantly, the budget presented by the central government was cut. People expressed anger against it. Under the leadership of Hajipur unit president Balwinder Kaur, the workers participated in a large number and strongly condemned the cut in the MNREGA budget by the central government, calling it anti-labour.

Thirty percent reduction in MGNREGA budget

According to youth leader Dharminder Singh Simbli, the Center has set aside Rs 60 crore for MGNREGA. While in the previous budget this amount was Rs 89 crore. It has been said that the employment of workers will decrease due to the 30 percent reduction in the MNREGA scheme by the central government. On this occasion, a protest was also held by MNREGA employee union against the central government.
