Bureau report : Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had written a letter to Purohit along with Governor Banwari to raise 5637 crore Rural Development Fund (RDF) of the state before the Centre. The answer to which has now come from the governor within 24 hours. Banwari Lal Purohit said that the Chief Minister has already knocked the doors of the Supreme Court. They should wait for the decision of the Supreme Court.

The governor said that I know that during your rule, the debt of Punjab has increased by 50 thousand crores. On this, Governor Purohit asked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for information about this so that the Prime Minister can be assured of proper use of the money.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had written a letter to Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit on September 21 requesting him to raise the issue of Rs 5637.4 crores of Punjab’s RDF fund before the President and Prime Minister. The Chief Minister had said that the Punjab Mandi Board and the Rural Development Board are unable to repay the existing debt. He also asked the central government to raise the issue of reducing the MDF fund from three percent to 2 percent. Due to this, Punjab has suffered a loss of 400 crores in 2 seasons.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that theoretically, all expenses for purchasing food grains are reimbursed by the Government of India through the public distribution system. He said that in the provisional purchase sheet of Kharif market season 2020-21, the Government of India did not give money due to some questions. The Chief Minister said that the central government has released the stalled money of the Rural Development Fund for the Rabi marketing season 2021-22. Chief Minister Mann said that as per Section-7 of the Punjab Rural Development Act (PRDA) 1987, three percent of the minimum (MSP) has to be paid to the Punjab Rural Development Fund as rural development fee.
