Chandigarh: As soon as the paddy harvesting season begins, the topic of stubble burning comes up. The Punjab government has started strict action against those who burn stubble during the paddy season. Like every year, the Punjab government is making efforts to prevent stubble burning this time too.
According to the instructions of the state government, the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts are busy making arrangements for stubble management at their level. Also, the district education department has ordered the heads of all government, aided and private unaided schools in the district to collect self-declaration letters from all the employees working in the school not to burn straw.
In this direction, declaration letters are being taken from the teachers of schools in Patiala district regarding not burning straw. In fact, an important meeting was held with the DC of Patiala. After this, the school education department issued orders to the teachers to make a written declaration about not burning straw. These declarations will be kept in the school records. Apart from this, painting, speech and writing competitions related to straw will also be organized by the education department.
Punjab Government Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hare claimed that in the year 2022 there will be a thirty percent reduction in stubble burning incidents. He said that a total of 71,304 incidents of stubble burning were recorded in the year 2021. But in the year 2022, only 49,907 incidents were recorded due to decline. Minister Meet Hare hoped that farmers would try to achieve 100 per cent success in stubble burning in the next two years.
