A notice has been issued to Charanjit Singh.

These IPS officers have been asked why disciplinary action should not be taken against them as recommended by the inquiry committee. An inquiry committee was formed on the directions of the Supreme Court. In this regard, Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua says that officials will be given an opportunity to present their views and appropriate action will be taken only after listening to them.

Chattopadhyay has retired. Inderbir Singh has been posted as DIG (Administration) PAP, Phillaur and Harmandeep Hans as AIG Counter-Intelligence. Last week, the Union Home Ministry had issued a letter to the Punjab government asking it to take action against the officials responsible for the lapse in security of PM Modi.
