CM Mann announced to boycott the opening ceremony on the occasion of dedicating the new parliament to the country

Boycott of Opening Ceremony of New Parliament: Criticizing the central government for insulting the prestigious post by not inviting the President of the country to the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today said that he will not attend the function to be held on May 28.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that whenever a new session of Parliament is convened, every member of Parliament is invited by the President of India to attend the session. He said that it is a matter of sadness that the constitutional head of the government was not even invited to the inauguration ceremony of the new parliament. Bhagwant Mann said that this is a sheer ‘mockery of the Constitution’ which is totally unjustified.

He said that the Constitution of India was created by Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Formulated under the leadership of a visionary leader like Ambedkar, who inculcated fundamental values to ensure the successful functioning of democracy. He said that under a deep conspiracy, the BJP-led NDA government is grossly disrespecting the makers of the Constitution by playing such dirty tricks. Bhagwant Mann said that the countrymen will never accept this and will teach BJP a lesson in the coming days.

Whenever the session of the Parliament is convened, the Honorable President sends an invitation letter to each and every MP to attend the session..but the matter of inaugurating the new Parliament is far from being invited to them…if the Honorable President would inaugurate I will definitely go but now I won’t go…

The Punjab CM said, “My conscience does not allow me to attend any function where the power-hungry government has not even bothered to invite the constitutional head of the country.” Therefore, they will boycott this event and will not participate in it as a defense against the arbitrariness of the BJP and its allied parties.

Bhagwant Mann clearly said that if the President of India were to dedicate this new Parliament to the people of the country, he would love to attend this function.
