Delhi Government vs Lieutenant Governor: The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a major verdict on the long-running dispute between the Delhi government and the Lt. Governor and said that the Delhi government has legislative and executive powers over services.

After the Supreme Court’s decision, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference and said that the struggle took 8 years. He said that in the last 8 years all work was stopped in Delhi and now no one will have to go to the High Court or the Supreme Court for any decision.

We did good work even after our hands were tied: Kejriwal

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said in a press conference on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding services in Delhi that my hands were tied but despite all the obstacles we did good work in Delhi. We thank all the judges of the Supreme Court for doing justice to us.

Chief Minister sought time from LG

He said that there are some officials who have stopped the work of the people of Delhi in the last one and a half years. The medicine of Muhalak Clinic was stopped, the work of Jal Board was stopped, all of them will have to pay the consequences of their actions. Many such officers who are doing very good work will be kept in this post. The entire system will be made accountable to the public.

After the Supreme Court’s decision, CM Kejriwal has sought time to meet the Lt. Governor of Delhi. He said that I am going to seek blessings.

Know what the Chief Justice said?

A constitution bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud of the Supreme Court said that the control of the elected government over the administration is essential. He said the Union Territory of Delhi has a ‘special’ status and disagreed with Justice Ashok Bhushan’s 2019 judgment that Delhi had no right over services.
