Chandigarh’s SSP Kanvardeep Kaur will be honored by the Union Home Ministry

Punjab cadre IPS officer and current SSP of Chandigarh Kanvardeep Kaur will be honored for ‘Excellence in Investigation’ by the Union Home Ministry on August 15. The names of Punjab IPS officer Kanwardeep Kaur and DSP Dalbir have been included in the list released by the Union Home Ministry to honor 140 junior and senior officers of police forces of various states including the CBI.

DSP Dalbir Singh has been selected to play an important role in getting Kanwardeep Kaur, who raped a 7-year-old girl within 11 months, to be hanged and to bring the culprits of the Moga desecration case behind bars. This rape case is from March 2021, when the SSP of Kanvardeep Kapurthala.

In the words of Kanwardeep Kaur, how the investigation of the entire case was completed…

Seeing the condition of the girl, my soul was shaken… I got emotional but caught the accused in 2 hours, issued a challan in 12 days, produced evidence in 11 months and hanged the accused.

I am SSP in Kapurthala. A 7-year-old girl was raped. The hunter had taken the girl on the pretext of giving her biscuits, after raping her, the uterus was pierced with a stick. He had to be admitted to a hospital in Amritsar. I visited the girl in the hospital. His condition was critical. The baby’s uterus was so injured that it had to be removed. My soul trembled, after all I am also someone’s daughter. I immediately formed a team.

The accused Mukesh was arrested within two hours. The team got active late in the evening to gather all the evidence against the accused after meeting with the investigating officer and other senior officials. The next day, the forensic lab examined the evidence. The police prepared an investigation report on the basis of all official and non-official witnesses and submitted the charge sheet in the concerned court within 12 days. After 11 months of court proceedings and presentation of evidence and witnesses, the court sentenced the accused to death.

FD in the name of the girl’s family with the donation money

Kanwardeep said, during the investigation, local people decided to donate to the girl’s family. The people of the city, including local social service organizations, stepped up and helped. The district police collected the entire donation and issued an FD in the name of the girl’s family. The baby girl is now completely fine but her health is a little bad. She also goes to school.
