The election will be held amid tight security.

Although it is still difficult to say which party will go for the three seats, it is certain that the Bharatiya Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress will not accept defeat easily in front of the 'India' alliance. Despite falling short of the four votes required for victory, till Monday night, BJP leaders were claiming that they would retain all three seats.

This will be the first time in the history of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, when no party leader and worker will be allowed to enter the corporation office to celebrate the victory in the mayoral election. Along with this, a limited number of officials will also be kept inside the house. Senior leaders of the city will be kept away from the election process.
