An important decision has been taken by the Chandigarh Education Department. According to which the Chandigarh administration will not admit the children of Punjab in pre-nursery and nursery schools. Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhatal and NSUI president Isharpreet Singh Sidhu have strongly condemned this decision of the Chandigarh administration.

Congress president Waring said that education is a fundamental human right for all. How can a decision be taken to deprive some children of this basic right? Students from Punjab currently occupy about 40 percent seats in government schools in Chandigarh. This decision is unfairly stripping our youth of their rights from an early age.

Raja Waring criticized the central government’s influence on Chandigarh as a union province, saying that Chandigarh, being under the control of the BJP-led central government, is now subject to measures that directly affect the people of Punjab.

Punjab is facing challenges and decisions against our interests are being imposed on us. Punjab’s right on Chandigarh is being reduced day by day. Whether it is imposing double parking fees for cars in Punjab or not allowing our children to study in government schools.

Former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhatal said that education is the most important sector for human development. We will strongly oppose such a decision. We cannot allow the people of Punjab to be deprived of such a basic human right.

NSUI President Isharpreet Singh Sidhu said that Chandigarh administration’s biased action against students of Punjab will not be tolerated. He opposed the decision of the Chandigarh administration saying that it is a direct discriminatory move with Punjab. This decision is contrary to the spirit of unity in both the areas.
