With an aim to ensure availability of green energy at affordable rates in the state, the Punjab government will set up a compressed bio-gas (CBG) project at a cost of Rs 140 crore in Hoshiarpur district.
Sharing information about this project, Punjab New and Renewable Energy Minister Aman Arora said that Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has produced more than 20 tonnes of CBG per day at village Baroti in Hoshiarpur district. A project with capacity has been allocated. The project is expected to be operational by December 2023.
The Cabinet Minister further said that this CBG About 40 acres of land has been earmarked for the plant and the plant will consume about 49,350 metric tonnes of agricultural waste, industrial/municipal waste and press mud annually and will also produce 91 tonnes of organic fertilizer per day. The project will also directly or indirectly provide employment to around 200 persons.
Aman Arora said that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann aims to generate additional source of income for farmers as well as availability of cheap green energy, farm waste, animal dung and municipal solid waste. To ensure better utilization. While this initiative will create employment opportunities, it will also boost the economic development of the state.
