Case Registered against ASI: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against Jagtar Singh, a resident of Himtana village of Malerkotla district, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at Police Station City-1 Malerkotla on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that Jagtar Singh has filed a complaint that the accused ASI has registered FIR No. 123 at Police Station City-1, Malerkotla under Sections 420, 406, 120-B, 506 of the IPC. Dated 19-05-2022, Rs 50,000 was demanded as bribe in return for withdrawing the name of his (complainant) son Pawanpreet Singh. The complainant also alleged that the said ASI. He has already taken 10 thousand rupees from him.

After the preliminary investigation of the complaint, the spokesperson said that the Vigilance Bureau team has arrested the accused ASI. A trap was set to catch him but the accused fled the spot in his Swift car along with the Rs 10,000 bribe received from the complainant after seeing the vigilance team. The Vigilance Bureau team chased him and recovered his car near Balad Kanchiyan (Bhavanigarh). During the checking of the car, 460 grams of poppy and 9 grams of opium, besides Rs 10,000 in bribe were recovered from it.

In this regard, the spokesperson said that ASI An FIR against Malwinder Singh under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the economic crime branch of Vigilance Bureau Ludhiana. Number 11 has been recorded. The police have registered an NDPS against him in Bhawanigarh police station. A separate case has been registered under FIR No. 137 dated 08-08-2023 under Sections 15 and 18 of the Act.
