Boy’s death due to H1N1 virus, health officer issued alert

Kerala: A 13-year-old boy has died due to H1N1 virus in Kuttipuram. Health officials have confirmed this. The boy, a resident of Penkanur near Kuttipuram, died a few days ago.

An official statement said that District Health Officer R.K. Renuka confirmed on Thursday that the death was due to H1N1 virus infection. He also appealed to the general public to be aware of all such fevers. Apart from H1N1, people should also be aware of dengue and leptospirosis, the health official said.

He said that in the past two deaths have occurred due to dengue in the district. H1N1 is also known as swine flu. In this the sufferer has problems like high fever, cough, cold, body ache, headache, vomiting etc. On seeing such symptoms one should immediately consult a doctor and should not take any medicine on one’s own.
