Central Jail Goindwal is in headlines due to a bloody clash between gangsters. Taking strict action in this case, a departmental inquiry has been opened against Jail Superintendent Iqbal Singh Brar and also the Assistant Superintendent of Jail has been suspended.

Chandra Shekhar visited Goindwal Sahib in the case of the bloody clash of gangsters in the jail and took strict notice of negligence in this case and opened a departmental investigation of Jail Superintendent Iqbal Singh Brar. At the same time, the assistant superintendent of the jail, Harish Kumar, has been suspended in the case of negligence in the security arrangements. It may be mentioned that Jail Superintendent Iqbal Singh Brar was on leave during the bloody clash on Sunday but returned to duty as soon as he got the news of the incident.
Let us tell you that many incidents of gangster clashes have come to light in the state-of-the-art jail which started 15 months ago. Apart from this, the racket of gangsters ordering arms and drugs from Pakistan while sitting in the same jail has also been revealed, but even after this, the jail authorities did not take this matter seriously. After the death of two gangsters on Sunday, the Home Department has called. CM Bhagwant Mann has the home department. In such a case, all the related information is being made known.
This prison started in December 2021. It has been learned that gangster Deepak Tinu, one of the main accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, is also lodged in this jail. In January, he attacked three prisoners along with his colleagues with an iron rod. All the three persons injured in the attack have been admitted to the Tarn Taran Civil Hospital.
In December 2022, there was a terrorist attack on Sahrali police station in Tarn Taran. At that time, the police had arrested a total of 12 accused in this case. It was revealed in the police investigation that the conspiracy of the RPG attack was hatched by the accused Ajmeet Singh from Goindwal Sahib Jail. Azmeet was in touch with his handlers abroad to plan the attack.

In October 2022, the Special Task Force (STF) busted a nexus of gangsters operating from inside the prison in collusion with a senior prison official. The STF had said that the gang members were working to smuggle drugs and arms across the border from the jail. An official said that there are no adequate arrangements to improve the conditions in the jails. The government has already been written up for lack of staff and installation of state-of-the-art jammers.
Prisoners in Goindwal Sahib Jail are using mobile phones indiscriminately. There, mobile phones are being confiscated during the daily investigation. According to the sources, 50 mobile phones have been seized from the jail in the month of February. A senior officer of the jail said that most of the mobile phones are being thrown from outside the jail. After the incident of gang war, Goindwal Sahib Central Jail was checked on Monday and 10 mobile phones, four headphones, five chargers, five data cables, 9 SIMs were recovered. Police of Goindwal Sahib police station has registered a case against two unidentified persons after naming one accused.
