Bharat bandh announced by farmer organizations on February 16

An important meeting of the Punjab chapter of 32 farmers' organizations of Punjab was held at Shaheed Karnail Singh Isru Bhavan to make the call of February 16 Bharat Bandh, given by the coordination of the United Kisan Morcha and Trade Unions, a success.

The meeting was chaired by Balveer Singh Rajewal, Nirbhai Singh Dhudike and Jangveer Singh Chauhan. At the beginning of the meeting, condolence was offered on the death of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's religious wife Bibi Harjitinder Kaur and farmer leader Bhupinder Singh.

The meeting took a unanimous decision and assigned the responsibilities of the farmer leaders by devising various programs to make the February 16 bandh a success. Farmers and trade organizations have called a big meeting at Karnail Singh Isru Bhavan in Ludhiana on January 31 at 11 am to coordinate with all sections and organizations of the society.

Similar meetings will be held on February 2 at the district level and on February 5 at the tehsil level to make coordination more comprehensive. The front has also decided to approach various trade circles across the state to seek support for February 16.

It was also decided to hold a protest march at the tehsil level on February 9 for the massive mobilization of farmers up to the village level. 32 farmer organizations have also decided to jam on 16th February on major roads and squares in district and tehsil centers to make the bandh successful.

In the meeting, expressing solidarity with the farmers' struggles going on in different countries of Europe, including France, Germany and Poland, the rise of farmers' struggles against the corporate attack on the agricultural sector around the world was said to be 'welcome'. Describing the policy of small employees and action regarding the scam in agricultural implements as diverting attention from the matter, a fair investigation was also demanded to reach the real culprits of this scam.
