Bhakra Dam 41 feet below danger mark, water will not be released from Bhakra Dam for now: BBMB

The water level of Bhakra Dam is continuously increasing. The water level in Bhakra Dam has risen by 20 feet in the last few days. Bhakra Dam currently holds 1641.30 feet of water. Of course it is still 41 feet short of the danger mark. Now BBMB says that water will not be released from Bhakra Dam for the next 5 days.

Bhakra Dam has received 61226 cusecs of water and only 17992 cusecs of water is being released through the turbines. So far, whatever water Bhakra has released, it has only been released through turbines. The main gate of Bhakra Management Board opens only when the water level is reached. If the water level rises due to rain, the floodgates will be opened.

According to information, 11870 cusecs of water is being released from Nangal Dam into Nangal Hydel Canal. Along with this, 6250 cusec of water is being released in Sri Anandpur Sahib Hydel canal, while 640 cusec of water is being released in Sutlej river.
