Bureau Report: Bandi Singh Gurmeet Singh has got a big relief in the former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh murder case, he has been granted bail by the Chief Magistrate. Lawyers Jaspal Singh Manjpur and Dilsher Singh Jandiala told the court that all the accused have completed their life imprisonment, they should get regular bail from the court, which the court has approved. Gurmeet Singh has completed his 27-year sentence

Gurmeet Singh, imprisoned in the Beant Singh murder case, has completed more than 27 years of his sentence, some time ago, Gurmeet Singh, imprisoned in Chandigarh’s Budel Jail, sought release on the basis that he had already completed 27 years in prison. Gurmeet Singh had been behind bars since 1995, on 27 May 2007, Balwant Singh, Jagtar Singh Tara, Nasib Singh, Shamsher Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Lakhwinder Singh were convicted by a CBI court in the Beant Singh murder case, while one was acquitted. On July 31, Balwant Singh, Jagtar Singh were sentenced to death, Shamsher Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Lakhwinder Singh were sentenced to life imprisonment and Nasib Singh was sentenced to 10 years.
